The activities of the cluster each year are proposed by the management team, depending on the needs and priorities expressed by the TFC, mainly by the companies. Besides the validation by the more than 80 current members, the management team of the cluster is Gold Label certified by the European clusters evaluation body, ESCA – European Secretariat for Cluster Analysis for “consultancy services in the management of the business support structures in the field in of furniture industry – cluster management”.

Transylvanian Furniture Cluster is a founding member of the Northern Transylvania Clusters Consortium (organized in the “Smart Transylvania” Association), is part of the Clusters Association in Romania – CLUSTERO and is active in multiple national and international networks and platforms, such as ECCP – European Cluster Collaboration Platform and FWCP – The Furniture and Woodworking Cluster partnership.

What can Transylvanian Furniture Cluster do for its members?

  • Training and specialization for the employees in the value chain of the furniture industry;
  • We contribute to the reduction of costs for the members of the cluster through common negotiations in general interest procurement;
  • We provide access to specialized laboratories and supply support services for the development and testing of new products;
  • Access to the programmes and projects of the cluster: Gate for Export, Cluj – Future of Work, Procurement Central Entity, Tomorrow’s Engineers in the furniture industry, etc;
  • We facilitate and attract non-reimbursable funds for research, development, innovation, new businesses, internationalization and/or investments projects;
  • Opportunities for connections and exchange of best practices among the members of the cluster, such as “Open House” events;
  • We support the development of international partnerships, commercial relations or technology transfer;
  • We initiate and support proposals of public policies to the interest of the cluster members; we offer representativeness for the common challenges of the industry in the discussion with ministries and with regional or central authorities;
  • Regular reports on topics of interest: calls for non-reimbursable funds, public procurement, specialized events;
  • Access to the events organized by the cluster: Transylvanian Clusters International Conference, international economic missions, workshops, round tables, meetings of the working groups;
  • Access to the cluster communication channels: website, Facebook official page and dedicated group, contact database including the national and international partners, press contact database;
  • Better visibility of the active members through promotion via the cluster public communication channels, press releases or radio/TV programmes.

For the members of the cluster, depending on the projects in progress and on the involvement of the members, specialized services are supplied and significant bonuses are provided for activities such as:

  • 01 The use in common of research-development-innovation infrastructures;
  • 02 Involvement in research-development-innovation projects, with a focus on developing products or services;
  • 03 Participation to economic missions, specialized fairs or matchmaking events;
  • 04 Participation to programmes, courses and training for the development of professional competences.
The services provided to the members of the TFC comply with the standards OHSAS 18001:2007, SRM 8000 and ISO 9001:2008.

Transylvanian Furniture Cluster organizes yearly, together with the partners in the Northern Transylvania Cluster Consortium a vast international event, hosting successful experts in the top industries as speakers. Transylvanian Clusters International Conference – TCIC provides the context of valuable human interconnections for those in search for innovative solutions, exchange of experience, relevant and interesting content, business or project partners – through the matchmaking sessions, visibility.

The members of the Transylvanian Furniture Cluster, Transylvania IT Cluster, Agro Transylvania Cluster, Transylvania Energy Cluster – TREC, Transylvania Creative Industries Cluster and Romanian New Materials Cluster have free access to TCIC, based on an invitation, as all these clusters belong to the organizing consortium.
