MANUFACTergy

The main objective of the MANUFACTergy project is to coordinate the transition toward a greener, more digital, and more resilient industry in the furniture and construction sectors.
The project aims to strengthen cooperation among organizations and SMEs from the seven partner countries (Italy, Czech Republic, Sweden, Bulgaria, Spain, Norway, and Romania) to support the adoption of advanced technologies and sustainable practices in production processes.

The initiative focuses on assisting small and medium-sized enterprises in their green and digital transformation, encouraging energy optimization, technological innovation, and responsible resource use. By identifying vulnerabilities, dependencies, and bottlenecks within supply chains, MANUFACTergy provides strategic tools that enable SMEs to increase their resilience and competitiveness on international markets.

More than 200 SMEs from the participating countries will be analyzed within the project, assessing key aspects such as energy efficiency, technological readiness, and operational robustness. The results will be consolidated into at least five reports addressing major value chain dependencies, sustainable growth opportunities, and pathways toward more efficient production models.

ACTIVITIES
  • Over 60 companies will establish strategic business partnerships at European and international levels.
  • 72 SMEs will participate in upskilling and reskilling programmes, strengthening essential competencies for the green and digital transition.
  • More than 24 SMEs will be actively involved in internationalisation initiatives, gaining new collaboration and expansion opportunities.
  • 32 SMEs will adopt advanced digitalisation processes and smart tools for real-time monitoring.
  • 146 organisations, including clusters, SMEs, and sectoral networks, will benefit from support and be integrated into the expanded ecosystem of the GO Furniture meta-cluster.
RESULTS

MANUFACTergy will strengthen the operational resilience of SMEs in the furniture and construction industries by analysing supply chains and identifying critical dependencies. The outcomes will support the adoption of more efficient practices, energy consumption optimisation, and reduction of technological vulnerabilities.

The development of the collaborative hub and the training programmes will stimulate knowledge exchange between SMEs, clusters, and experts, accelerating the digital transition and the growth of advanced technology competencies. These activities will help build a workforce prepared for industrial transformation and capable of implementing innovative solutions.

Through the implementation of FACTORY CHECK-IN and FACTORY TRANSITION calls, the project will generate new products, services, and innovative processes within factories, supporting SME modernisation and competitiveness in European and international markets. Networking and dedicated events will encourage strategic partnerships within value chains.

Expanding the collaboration network to international experts and organisations will support the internationalisation of the sector, giving SMEs access to global know-how and opportunities for cross-border development. These partnerships will facilitate market diversification and the adoption of more resilient business models.

Through the developed guides, collected best practices, and digital tools, MANUFACTergy will support the industry in adopting greener and more efficient processes. Long-term effects include reduced resource consumption, improved production efficiency, and increased sustainability across the industrial ecosystem.

EFFECTS

MANUFACTergy will enhance the resilience of SMEs in the furniture and construction industries by helping them reduce critical dependencies, better manage supply chain risks, and adapt to economic, technological, and energy-related changes. By identifying bottlenecks and vulnerabilities, the project fosters the development of a more autonomous and competitive European industry.

Through the FACTORY CHECK-IN and FACTORY TRANSITION calls, companies will receive financial support to implement innovative solutions, contributing to improved operational efficiency, reduced resource consumption, and environmental sustainability.

The project will strengthen collaboration networks among SMEs, clusters, solution providers, and European and international organisations, facilitating access to know-how, advanced technologies, and new markets. This connectivity will encourage the creation of strategic partnerships and reinforce the ability of European industrial ecosystems to compete globally.
